Ready to start teaching English online?
Teach with VIPKidEach year on October 5th we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a chance to honor teachers that go above and beyond to educate students. But World Teachers’ Day is not just a celebration, it’s a chance for reflection, and a moment for teachers to think about their education journey. To commemorate, we’re featuring stories of teachers from around the world.
We’ve gathered a collection of educator profiles, featuring our very own VIPKid Teachers from different backgrounds and walks of life. These teachers live in very different areas, and each has an incredible story that has led them to where they are. Who knows, you might get inspired to take the leap and begin teaching while living in a new country!

What is World Teachers’ Day?
World Teachers’ Day began in 1994 as a way to honor the 1966 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, an organization dedicated to achieving peace and mutual understanding through the promotion of education, science, and culture. Each year the organization chooses a theme to bring attention to a specific aspect of teaching, and this year’s focus is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.” Due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, UNESCO will be holding their celebrations online with a week of virtual events and wrapping up with a closing ceremony on October 12th.
