Dear Teachers,

In continuing to provide transparency and awareness around the diversity and inclusion work on the VIPKid platform, please see the following updates on the latest work and opportunities in this area.

Teacher Advisory Council

As mentioned earlier this week in the Weekly Update, applications for the Teacher Advisory Council will open up once again on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 a.m. (Pacific Time).

If you are interested in being part of a dedicated team focused on evaluating feedback and exploring ways to create an equitable and inclusive teacher experience, we recommend applying for the Teacher Advisory Council, and specifically the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion cohort.

For more details about the Teacher Advisory Council and to apply for this position, head to the Certification Center and click on the Builders Program tab. We welcome everyone who is eligible to apply, even if you were involved in the Advisory Councils in the past!

Applications open on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) and close on Sunday, September 13 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). We thank you in advance for your interest and for helping us ensure VIPKid is the best it can be!

Diversity and Inclusion Page and Blog Posts

In case you missed it, at the end of July we shared a series of blog posts containing our immediate action steps regarding diversity and inclusion work for teachers, students, and employees at VIPKid. Additionally, we recently launched a dedicated page on the official website, which highlights VIPKid’s commitment to supporting and advancing diversity and equity within our own community.

This content is only a start, but we want to reassure the community that the important projects and conversations about equity and inclusion at VIPKid continue to be a top priority. We will continue to showcase our ongoing work in future blogs and announcements and we are grateful to you all for taking part in this journey to ensure our community is inclusive and equitable.

Community Guidelines

On August 5, VIPKid launched updated Community Guidelines to help ensure that the Official Facebook Group and the Hutong are inclusive and safe for all teachers. Additionally, upon logging into the Teacher Portal, all teachers on the platform were asked to agree to the terms of the Community Guidelines. This pop-up will also be shown to new teachers as they join the platform. We recognize that there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure that our online communities are welcoming and inclusive for all teachers. We will continue to improve and make changes to our community spaces and moderation guidelines to reflect this commitment.

We Encourage Your Feedback

If you have any further questions, feedback, or comments, please do not hesitate to send in a ticket to the Teacher Voice team and select the “Diversity and Inclusion” dropdown. From here, our team will be happy to help.

Best regards,
VIPKid Education
